PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling bearing which prevents its life from being shortened by the occurrence of indentations due to the existence of foreign matters. SOLUTION: In this rolling bearing provided with an outer ring and an inner ring made of steel and forming an annular bearing space for rolling elements, at least one rolling element is made of a material harder or stiffer than the material of the other rolling elements. Any indentations, particularly projecting parts around the indentations, formed by solid contamination particles upon compression between a race surface and an rolling element of about the same hardness are compressed by a rolling element with a higher hardness, and the race surface is restored to a smooth surface 7. Only small holes 4 are left, which gives no negative influence to the running properties of the bearing. Minute quantities of lubricating oil are collected in these small holes 4, which help the lubrication of the rolling element. The occurrence of cracks or abrasion due to stress concentration is fundamentally suppressed. The rolling bearing is rotated more quietly. |
