PURPOSE: To reduce intake noise without causing upsizing by composing the length of a communicating pipe communicating an air intake pipe with a chamber at approximately the same as that of the total length of the air intake pipe. CONSTITUTION: The length L2 of a communicating pipe 4 is made at approximately the same dimensions as the total length L1 of an air intake pipe 3. Thus a plurality of standing waves consisting of respectiveλ/2, 2λ/2, 3λ/2, 4λ/2,... wave lengths also generate inside the communicating pipe 4 based on respective frequencies of the intake noise inside the air intake pipe 3. In other words, a plurality of standing waves consisting of the same wave length as the plurality of standing waves in the air intake pipe 3 are generated inside the communicating pipe 4 attached with a chamber 5. Intake noise in the frequency band corresponding to the wave length of the respective standing waves can be simultaneously reduced by the respective standing waves inside the air intake pipe 3 and the respective standing waves inside the communicating pipe 4 attached with the chamber 5 resonating with each other as if to mutually erase each other.
