<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the magnitude characteristic of a packet flow before the next cell arrives by storing identification data in each cell assigned to individual connections including their related positions in a cell flow. SOLUTION: An extractor (EX.) 12 copies the data on connections (i) from a cell flow 11. From a fixed number (n) of lastly arriving cells, the identification data ai of each connection (i) to which the cells are assigned are continuously stored in a register 15. Before the next cell arrives, one or more results m(aj ) are decided to at least one individual connection (j) from the selectable number (k) of the entries of (n) pieces of memories containing identification data aj at the specified or specifiable functions of spaces in the memories. In this case, the decision of the results m(aj ) can be omitted when the identification data aj are vacant cells. Therefore, the cell flow 11 can be controlled by making different parameters coincident with each other, and so on.</p> |
