摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To obtain a radar unit which prevents a false detection by a method wherein the detection state of a road-side object detected as a target object and of a moving object is recognized, the detection region of the radar unit is controlled so as to be variable according to the detection state and an optimum detection region is always set, regardless of an environmental condition. CONSTITUTION: A transmission signal is radiated from a transmitting antenna 18, reflected waves from an object to be detected are received by a receiving antenna 20, a beat signal is generated by a mixer 22, and the beat signal is amplified 24 so as to be supplied to a target recognition device 30. The recognition device 30 detects peaks of respective power spectrums in a frequency rise part and a fall part, it performs a pairing operation, and it forms a peak pair corresponding to every target object. Then, magnitudes of a safe distance decided by a danger judgment device 32 and of a relative distance are compared. When the relative distance is at the safe distance or lower, a driver is informed by an alarm 34. A steering control circuit 40 computes an own vehicle velocity from a vehicle speed sensor 42, a steering angle from a steering angle sensor 44 and a steering angle from the relative distance from the recognition device 30, it drives a steering mechanism 46, and it controls the rotation of the antennas 18, 20.</p>
