FIELD: engine engineering. SUBSTANCE: method comprises feeding fuel to the cooled prechamber through gas inlet valve and fuel passageway and igniting it using a spark plug. The gas fuel is fed at first to the spark plug to cool and then to the prechamber. The device comprises gas inlet valve connected with the space of the prechamber through a fuel passageway and spark plug whose electrode portion is inside the prechamber. The fuel passageway is connected with the space of the prechamber through a cylindric hollow provided around the casing of the spark plug which has grooves arranged over periphery of the electrode part. EFFECT: enhanced reliability.
