PROCESS FOR MONITORING PLATINUM REFORMING CATALYSTS

The extent of regeneration or coke accumulation, or the concentration of oxidised platinum of a platinum reforming catalyst is determined by (i) measuring the UV-visible spectrum of the reforming catalyst and (ii) comparing the measured spectrum to the spectra, of one or more reforming catalysts of known extent of regeneration, coke accumulation or concentration of oxidised platinum. The process is useful for monitoring and controlling coke accumulation and regeneration of platinum reforming catalysts.
