At least two pairs of telescopic vertical poles (7) are mounted on a mobile chassis (1) and carry a roof structure at their upper ends. Each pole has a fixed lower portion (8) and movable upper portion (9), relatively movable by a control mechanism for simultaneous extension of all the poles. The control mechanism includes a drive shaft (15) running longitudinally along the chassis, which is rotatable via a manual handle (19) and gear transmission. A flexible connector (22), attached to the upper part of each pole, passes over a series of pulleys (25-27) and is wound at least partly around a drum (23) secured to the drive shaft.
