An absorbent prod. comprises liq.-permeable upper and lower layers (1, 2) and an intermediate absorption layer (3) comprising the following materials: (A) a synthetic fibre which does not swell in water; (B) opt. cellulose fibre; and (C) a water-absorbent resin. The (A)/(B) wt. ratio is 100-20:0-80 and layer (3) comprises 25;75 wt.% (C) w.r.t. the sum of (A) - (C). Layer (3) is treated with a surfactant (D) comprising a polyoxyalkylene-modified silicone surfactant (D1) and/or a silicone-free surfactant with a HLB of 8-14 (D2).
