SUBSTANCE: method of selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides in effluent gases containing 8- 21% oxygen using, as reducing agents, propane, butane, or propane- butane mixture is distinguished by using, as catalyst, non-modified gamma-Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>-alumina with specific surface area more than 100 sq.m/g with neutral or slightly alkaline reaction (pH of water extract 7 to 9.5) and by carrying out the process within temperature range 400 to 450 C.
