PURPOSE: To obtain the subject increasing medicine containing SHOUSAIKOTOU (a Chinese medicine) having an action for increasing the anti-AIDS virus action of azidothymidine as an active ingredient, and capable of enhancing the HTV replication-inhibiting action of an anti-AIDS virus agent. CONSTITUTION: This medicine contains the SHOUSAIKOTOU as an active ingredient. The SHOUSAIKOTOU is generally obtained by compounding 4-7 pts.wt. of Bupleuri radix, 4-5 pts.wt. of Pinelliae tuber, 3 pts.wt. of Scutellariae radix, 2-3 pts.wt. of Zizyphi fructus, 2-3 pts.wt. of Ginseng radix, and 1-4 pts.wt. of Glycyrrhiza radix. The SHOUSAIKOTOU is preferably used in a 12-25 weight ratio to the azidothymidine. The SHOUSAIKOTOU is usually administered at a daily dose of 5-22.5g divided in several portions on the oral administration to an adult. |
