PURPOSE: To obtain a new antibiotic substance, capable of manifesting antimicrobial activities against Gram-positive bacteria and their medicine- resistant bacteria and having antitumor activities. CONSTITUTION: This antibiotic substance cremimycin of formula I or II or its salt. appearance: colorless crystal; molecular formula: C35 H53 NO9 ; melting point: 219-220 deg.C; solubility: soluble in methanol and dimethyl sulfoxide and insoluble in water. The compound is obtained by culturing a microorganism, belonging to the genus Streptomyces and capable of producing the cremimycin [preferably Streptomyces sp. MJ635-86F5 strain (FERM P-14696), etc., which is a new microorganism], preferably according to a shaking culture method and then collecting the resultant substance from the cultured product by a well-known method. Furthermore, the culture temperature is preferably 27 deg.C. |
