PURPOSE: To reduce a selection period width, to reduce the burning of an image without deteriorating contrast and a view angle and to suppress cross talk by providing a peculiar selection period and a current impression period of a fixed polarity ranging to the selection periods of other plural scan signals applied to other plural scanning lines in the scan signal. CONSTITUTION: The scan signal is provided with the peculiar selection period, and is provided with the current impression period of a fixed polarity ranging to the selection periods of other plural scan signals applied to other plural scanning lines prior to each selection period. For instance, the scan signalΦ(n) is provided with the current impression period Ti1A (n) of a first opposite polarity of a negative polarity ranging to respective first selection periods Ts1 (n-l), Ts1 (n-2) of the scanning lines Sn-1, Sn-1),Φ(n-2) of before one piece and before two pieces prior to the first selection period Ts1 (n) of a positive polarity.
