PURPOSE: To easily inform an information destination such as a host computer of an error occurring in a printer. CONSTITUTION: A state monitor part 16 detects the error occurring in the printer and an error kind decision part 17 decides whether or not the error is serious. When the error is serious, an electronic mail generation part 18 generates and sends an error message to a computer 3. If an alarm decision part 21 decides that the error will possibly occur again although the error is not serious and easily removed, that is reported by electronic mailing. To predict error occurrence, it is decided whether an error occurrence frequency recorded in a management table 20 exceeds a reference value, whether or not an error occurrence frequency in a unit time exceeds a predicated frequency, or whether or not the error occurrence frequency tends to increase. |
