PURPOSE: To enable printing without stopping an entire operation while using remaining normal memories even when a part of an image is omitted by reporting that any abnormality is detected at the image memories of plural banks for storing image data to be printed, at the time of detection. CONSTITUTION: A processing part 41 controls the entire device and while using an image memory 44 divided into eight banks and a line buffer memory 45 for storing image data for two lines, the image data are stored. In setting modes A, B and C, 1st, 4th and 8th banks are required, when a detecting means detects memory abnormality at any bank, that bank can not be used any more and it is reported on a display part 48 or the like. Therefore, the use of the mode to disable setting is inhibited and at the time of setting not to inhibit the use in error generation, the use is preferentially started from the bank at a low defect rate. Thus, the operation of the entire device is not stopped by the abnormality at the memory 44 but the remaining normal memories are used and even when a part of the image is omitted, that image can be printed. |
