<p>PURPOSE: To obtain an image of excellent color purity and of high contrast ratio. CONSTITUTION: This projection type display device is provided so that a light source optical system, a 1st filter 1, a 1st diaphragm 17, a condensing lens 13, a liquid crystal display element 15 where a color filter is formed for every picture element, a 2nd diaphragm 18, a 2nd filter 2, and a projection optical system may constitute a Schlieren optical system. It is provided with the 1st and the 2nd filters 1 and 2 consisting of a spectroscopic element regulating respective colors RGB. By adjusting the spectrum of RGB without deteriorating the directivity of light source light by such constitution, the color resolution of the color filter of the liquid crystal display element 15 is compensated, and the light source light having the high directivity is obtained, whereby the bright and easy-to-view projected image light is obtained.</p> |
