PURPOSE: To suppress bothering the neighboring people during a conference or in a train by receiving a voice or facsimile(FAX) without generating a ringer tone. CONSTITUTION: A portable FAX equipment 1 is connected to a digital portable telephone set 2 to execute FAX communication. The telephone set 2 is connected to a digital base station 3 through a radio wave. The base station 3 is connected to a public line network 4 to communication with a telephone set 5 and a FAX equipment 6 connected to the network 4. Even at the time of receiving an incoming signal, the signal is connected to the telephone line without generating a ringer tone and whether a CNG signal arrives or not is detected for a prescribed time. When the incoming of the CNG signal is not detected, the input of a message for a telephone call or the depression of a FAX start button for FAX communication is instructed to the opposite party. When a CNG signal is not sent yet even after the instruction, a recording mode is started. At the time of detecting the CNG signal, the mode is turned to a non-telephone mode to start FAX communication. |
