PURPOSE: To generate hydrogen on a reference electrode and stably operate the reference electrode by providing a DC power source between the reference electrode and another electrode. CONSTITUTION: When a DC power source 8 is connected between a reference electrode 4 and the fourth electrode 7 and the DC power source 8 is set to the potential generating hydrogen on the reference electrode 4, hydrogen ions in a solid electrolyte film 6 become hydrogen gas, and hydrogen gas is generated. The potential causing this electrode reaction is 0V. The reference electrode 4 is a dynamic hydrogen electrode with the potential 0V, and it has the potential 0V as far as this hydrogen generating reaction occurs even if the surrounding environment is changed in any way. Since the DC power source 8 is connected between the reference electrode 4 and the fourth electrode 7 and the reference electrode 4 serves as the stable hydrogen electrode, the potential of the reference electrode 4 is not shifted or fluctuated by the effect of the reaction active gas of the surrounding environment and the change of the temperature/humidity atmosphere, and the instability of the output of the sensor sensitivity can be resolved. |
