PURPOSE: To provide a mechanism for preventing the erroneous insertion of a printed circuit board whereby the erroneous insertion can be sensed easily without the use of physical positional relations and the number of the sensing patterns thereof can be made large nearly unlimitedly. CONSTITUTION: In a printed circuit board 9 to be inserted into a connector, such a memory means 3 as a ROM 3 stores therein the name and positional information of the printed circuit board 9, and in a housing, such a memory means 8 as a ROM 8 stores therein similarly the mounting information of the printed circuit board 9 on the connector of the housing. A mounting-information checking circuit 7 compares the positional information of the board 9 with the mounting information which is read out from the memory means 8 according to the inserted position of the board 9, and the circuit 7 determines the right or error of the inserted position. Thereby, many comparison patterns for determining the right or error of the inserted position can be created without any possibility of such damages of notches and protrusive parts as ones in a conventional mechanism for preventing the erroneous insertion of a printed circuit board by some mechanical means. Further, since the shapes of the connectors themselves are made all the same, the complexity in the manufacturing stage thereof is eliminated too. |
