The invention's technical field covers processes for producing a sheet metal sealing lid and the lid so produced. For improved metering while making more accurate application of the sealing layer possible, the invention proposes a process for applying sealing compounds (10; 11a, 11b, 11c...) to single or multi-use metal lids, like screw caps or double-fold covers in which the sealing compound (10) is printed in a geometrical pattern on the unshaped sheet metal (strip or plate) (1).
