<p>Disclosed are methods of inhibiting transcription using a synthetic oligonucleotide complementary to the Watson strand of a double-stranded DNA genome. Also disclosed are synthetic oligonucleotides which specifically inhibit transcription of the HIV-1 genome. Pharmaceutical compositions containing the synthetic oligonucleotides of the invention and methods of treating HIV infection using the oligonucleotides or pharmaceutical compositions of the invention are also provided.</p> |
