The braking parameter regulation system has the regulating parameters set to values corresponding to the max. braking pressure during a test procedure in which at least one travel parameter is held constant, with the detected rotation rate of the wheels of at least one axle remaining below a threshold value after a given interval from the initiation of braking. Pref. the regulating parameters can be set to obtain max. braking when the rotation rates of all the vehicle wheels remain below a second threshold value, after a second interval from the initiation of braking.
