MEDICINE FOR IMPROVEMENT OF CEREBRAL APOPLEXY CONTAINING EUGENOL AND ITS DERIVATIVES AS EFFECTIVE INGREDIENT

PURPOSE: A medicine for improvement of the ischemic stroke containing eugenol and its derivatives as effective ingredient is provided, which prevents or cures the cerebral apoplexy caused by delaying or acute neurotoxicity derived from excitotoxin. CONSTITUTION: A medicine for improvement of the ischemic stroke containing eugenol and its as effective ingredient derivatives which comprises NMDA(N-methyl-D-aspartate), AMPA(alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazole propionate) or kainate as an excitotoxin, 50% methanol extract from leaves of clove shows most superior inhibition effect on damage of nerve cell. Especially eugenol in the extract of leaves of protects nerve cell in dose dependently, of which protecting effect on neurotoxicity is found by dyeing using NSE(neuron specific enolase). Eugenol derivatives like as mirysticin, alpha-asarone(1,2,4-trimethoxy-5-prophenylbenzene), 4-allylanisole, beta-asarone(is-2,4,5-trimethoxyprophenylbenzene) and isoeugenol also inhibit neurotoxicity derived from excitotoxin.
