A method for preparing a composition containing optionally activated macrophages, and/or cells derived from monocytes having a high antigen presentation potential, wherein the monocytes in the starting composition are cultured, this step being preceded and/or followed by removal of at least some of the components other than monocytes from the starting composition, by means of antibodies to such components, and/or followed by elutriation. Compositions and kits for carrying out the method are also disclosed.
