The method disinfects the dishcloth within the microwave oven by use of an operation characteristics of a gas sensor. The method comprises the steps of: determining if an initially set heating time has passed while heating the dishcloth by generating a high frequency; determining if water remains in the dishcloth, and stopping heating of the dishcloth when there exists no water in the dishcloth; determining if the temperature of the dishcloth is higher than a set value if that there exists water in the dishcloth; continuing to heat the dishcloth for a set time if that the temperature of the dishcloth is higher than the set value; stopping heating of the dishcloth if that the overall heating time is longer than a set time.
