<p>Silane modified polyoxometalate anions, represented by the formula YZ(SiRR')n, were prepared by reacting a silane having two hydrolyzable groups with a lacunary polyoxometalate anion. In the above formula, Z is M11O39<-12>, M9034<-14> or M17O60<-20>, where M is tungsten or molybdenum; Y is As<+5>, Si<+4>, B<+3>, Ge<+4>, P<+5> or Fe<+3>; when Z is M11O39<-12>; Y is Si<+4>, Ge<+4>, or P<+5> when Z is M9034<-14> and Y is As2<+10> or P2<+10> when Z is M17O61<-20>; R is a monovalent hydrocarbon radical having from 1 to 24 carbon atoms; R' is hydrogen or R and n represents the number of (RR'Si)<+2> groups bonding to the polyoxometalate anion which has a value from 1 to 3.</p> |
