PURPOSE: To obtain a color filter without a colored coating film being formed on a sealing part, free of the contamination of a body to be dyed and the contamination with the dye and having a high-precision sealing part by forming a protective film contg. releasable resin and pigment, forming a colored coating film and then releasing the protective film. CONSTITUTION: A protective film forming resin composition contg. releasable resin and pigment is applied and then dried to form a protective film at the specified position of a transparent substrate. A colored coating film is then formed by dyeing, pigment dispersion, electrodeposition, printing, etc., and then the protective film is released to produce a color filter having a desired sealing part. The releasable resin is appropriately selected from synthetic-rubber resin, vinyl chloride resin, epoxy resin, urethane resin, etc. Any colored pigment having <=about 5μm primary grain diameter can be used. A white pigment is preferably used from the standpoint of the visibility in operation, and titanium white having <=about 0.5μm grain diameter is most preferably used from the viewpoint of the shape stability of a protective film formed. |
