LOOP ATM COMMUNICATION CONTROL METHOD

PURPOSE: To simplify hardware and a management procedure in the configuration of the loop ATM communication system. CONSTITUTION: A reception address 11 to identify a node in a loop, a circulation bit 12 to be cleared/set depending on a circulation state, an internal bit 13 representing whether a cell is inside the loop or outside the loop are allocated to an area to which a fixed value is allocated in in-loop/out-loop communication in a VPI/VCI area 10 of an ATM cell header. Whether the cell is circulated to a downstream or aborted is discriminated by discriminating the information in each branch node or main node. Thus, it is not required for each branch node to manage all VPI/VCI.
