Erase station for distributed queue dual bus protocol

An erase station (10) is provided on a DQDB network (2) to erase slots received on the transmit bus (4,6) which have been used to transmit data to a prior station (8). The erased slots are available to subsequent stations (8,10) for reuse in subsequent transmissions. An erased slot count is maintained to keep track of how may slots are available for reuse at any instant in time.
