<p>The system includes an input which receives data which is compressed by dividing the data into character strings. A dictionary is constructed which associates a code with each character chains. The compressed code is delivered to an intermediate medium and decompressed as data are read from the intermediate medium and output. The code is formed from the dictionary address of the associated character string. A restricted number of locations can be tested for recording a character string in the dictionary, which can be continuously update. Different dictionaries can be used without increasing the quantity of data for transmission. One dictionary can be empty and is used to deliver data without compression.</p> |
