The present liquid crystal device is characterized by a plurality of contact holes (13) in an insulating layer (10) for exposing an electrode of a switching transistor (2), wherein an interconnecting piece (31) of conducting material is provided in each contact hole which are of the same type of material as the material of a signal line (4) connected with the switching transistor (2). Each of the switching transistors is brought into contact with a transparent pixel electrode of each pixel at the location of each contact hole by means of said interconnecting piece (31).
