PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound useful as an intermediate for a silane coupling agent or a cross-linking monomer. CONSTITUTION: A compound of the formula (R is H or methyl), e.g. 2,2- dimethyl-4-penten-1-yl methacrylate. The compound is obtained by reacting allyl chloride with isobutyraldehyde, formalin, methyl methacrylate, sodium hydroxide and tetramethylammonium iodide. The compound of the formula is constituted by forming a conventional structure in which the methacrylic acid part is parted from the silyl group part with a bulky dimethyl group and the carbon chain from the ester to the silyl group is separated by 3 or more carbon atoms and respective performances can independently be manifested. Thereby, the compound is advantageous to complex formation of organic with inorganic materials. |
