PURPOSE: To provide the subject refrigerating oil containing a hydrocarbon compound having a specific structure, compatible with a hydrofluorocarbon cooling medium and having various kinds of satisfied performances such as hydrolysis stability, electric insulation and lubricity. CONSTITUTION: This refrigerating oil contains a hydrocarbon compound of the formula (R<1> to R<4> are each H or a 1-10C hydrocarbon, wherein the total number of carbon atoms in every R<1> to R<4> is 1-10), e.g. preferably n- propylnaphthalene in a ratio of preferably 70-100wt.% based on the total amount of the refrigerating oil. The kinetic viscosity of the compound of the formula is preferably 3-15mm<2> /s to improve abrasion resistance especially. Further, the compound of the formula is obtained e.g. through the addition reaction of naphthalene with a halogenized compound of a 1-10C hydrocarbon, a 2-10C olefin or a 8-10C styrene in the presence of an acid catalyst such as sulfuric acid or aluminum chloride. Furthermore, a phosphorous compound such as a phosphoric acid ester is optionally compounded to the refrigerating oil to further improve its abrasion resistance and weight resistance. |
