PURPOSE: To lower the peak value of passage overcurrent and lessen the loss at the time of current limitation by increasing the rise-up speed of a quench resistance and to make a device compact by getting it quenched without using another power supply. CONSTITUTION: This equipment has a superconductive current limiting. element 1 which is formed in the shape of a coil with oxide superconductor and which is connected to an AC circuit in series and a heater 2 which, being insulated from the oxide superconductor, is wound in an inner face or outer face of the superconductive current limint element 1, and which generates heat owing to current caused by electromagnetic induction which occurs when overcurrent runs in the superconductive current limiting element 1 and then leads the superconductive current limiting element 1 into a quenched state.
