PURPOSE: To provide the subject low-viscosity lubricant of a transparent liquid containing a highly basic salicylate of an alkaline earth metal, having activity to suppress the abrasion of a tool or skin roughening during a high-temperature plastic processing and free from environmental pollution. CONSTITUTION: This lubricant contains a highly basic salicylate of an alkaline earth metal [preferably, a highly basic calcium salicylate of the formula (R<1> is a 5-28C alkyl or a 6-30C aryl; R<2> is H, a 1-28C alkyl, etc.)]. The lubricant preferably contains 3-90wt.% of a highly basic salicylate of an alkaline earth metal and 10-97wt.% of at least one kind selected from a mineral oil and an ester. Further, a base number of the highly basic salicylate of an alkaline earth metal is >=150. Furthermore, a mineral oil having a low viscosity such as a spindle oil is preferable as the above mineral oil, and a lowly viscous ester in which the OH group of an alcohol such as 2-ethylhexanol is esterified with a 4-22C carboxylic acid is preferable as the above ester. |
