发明名称 PRODUCTION OF POWDERY RARE EARTH-TRANSITION METAL ALLOY
摘要 PURPOSE: To simply and easily produce a powdery rare earth-transition metal alloy by neutralizing a mixed aq. solution of salts of a rare earth element and a transition metal to coprecipitate the element and metal as fine particles, separating the resulting fine particles with filtration, heating the fine particles to form composite oxide and thereafter, reducing the composite. CONSTITUTION: This production comprises: neutralizing a mixed aq. solution of a water-soluble halide or nitrate of a rare earth element such as Dy, Sm, Tb, Ho, and a water-soluble halide, nitrate, sulfate, or the like of a transition metal such as Fe, Co, Ni, adding aqueous ammonia, an NaOH aq. solution, or the like to neutralize and to coprecipitate the element and metal as fine particles of a rare earth element-transition metal compound, whose particle diameter is 0.1 to 1μm; and separating the resulting coprecipitate from the neutralized mixed aq. solution by filtration, water-washing the separated coprecipitate and drying the washed coprecipitate under reduced pressure; thereafter, heating the dried coprecipitate in the atmosphere to oxidize it and to form powdery composite oxide of the rare earth element and transition metal; further heating the powdery composite oxide to 700 to 1,000 deg.C in the presence of a reducing agent such as Ca, under an inert gas such as Ar, to produce the objective fine-powdery rare earth element-transition metal alloy. Thus, the powdery rare earth-transition metal alloy having a desired compositional ratio can be produced at a low cost without using any melting method.
