<p>PURPOSE: To display the colors or gradations at the peripheral edge of a display region according to setting. CONSTITUTION: A picture frame-like peripheral electrode 26 is formed at the peripheral part of the display region of a glass substrate 21 and a peripheral electrode part 28A constituting a part of a common electrode 28 is formed at the position of another region of a glass substrate 22 facing the peripheral electrode 26. The display of the colors or gradations meeting the setting at the peripheral part of the display region is made possible by controlling the impressed voltage between the peripheral electrode 26 and the peripheral electrode part 28A. The easily visible liquid crystal display element is, therefore, realized.</p> |
