A table (1) for use in or on a bed, lounger or similar reclining furniture has a transverse support, at least one stand (3, 3a) or securing component to hold the transverse support in a horizontal or virtually horizontal position and at least one tray (13, 13a) which can be detachably secured to the transverse support in at least one position, in which the tray is arranged parallel or approximately parallel to the longitudinal axis of the support and when the table is in use, this tray is in a horizontal or substantially horizontal plane.
