PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new substance capable of manifesting the inhibiting activities against a diacylglycerolacyltransferase and useful for prevention, treatment, etc., of obesity, hyperlipemia, arteriosclerosis, etc., by culturing a microorganism, belonging to the genus Humicola and having the ability to produce a substance FO-2942. CONSTITUTION: This new substance FO-2942 is represented by the formula (R<2> is methyl or isopropyl when R<1> is H; R<2> is methyl when R<1> is methyl). The substance FO-2942 is useful for prevention and treatment, etc., of various adult diseases caused by accumulation of triacylglycerols in humans, e.g. diseases such as obesity, hyperlipemia and further arteriosclerosis based thereon due to the manifestation of inhibiting activities thereof against a diacylglycerolacyltransferase. This substance is obtained by culturing a microorganism, belonging to the genus Humicola and having the ability to produce the substance FO-2942 [e.g. Humicola sp. FO-2942 strain (FERM P-14671)] in a culture medium and then recovering the resultant product from the cultured product. |
