PRODUCTION OF OXIDE CRYSTAL AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PURPOSE: To provide a method capable of stably controlling the shape of a crystal to be pulled up and stably sustaining the growth of the crystal from a melt. CONSTITUTION: The crystal 3 of the oxide having a structure of RBa2 Cu3 O7-x (R is a yttrium or a lanthanoid based element, 0<=X<=1) is successively pulled up from the raw material melt 4 housed in a crucible 6. The position of the surface of the raw material melt 4 is measured with lapse of time during pulling up. The moving speed in a direction nearly parallel with the crystal pulling up direction from the surface is determined and the ascending speed of a crystal pulling up shaft 1 is adjusted by this moving speed.
