PURPOSE: To attach a tongue of a seat belt to a buckle one-handed. CONSTITUTION: A buckle driving device 501 for a three-point type seat belt 105 is provided with a buckle supporting mechanism, which supports a buckle 1 in such a manner that the buckle can move in three directions: fore-and-aft direction of a vehicle, or X-direction; vertical direction, or Y-direction; and width direction of the vehicle, or Z-direction, and a driving mechanism, which moves the buckle 1 in the three directions. The device 501 is also provided with a controlling means, which, by controlling the driving mechanism, positions the buckle 1, when the seat belt 105 is to be attached, at almost the middle in the fore-and-aft direction Y of a seat cushion 12A and moreover at the initial position P1 a little to the center in the width direction X of the seat cushion 12A and which moves the buckle 1 again to an optimum position P2 in attaching the seat belt, after the seat belt 105 was attached temporalily. |
