METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETECTING LEVEL USING LASER LIGHT

PURPOSE: To obtain a highly accurate method and apparatus for detecting the level in which the detection sensitivity can be sustained even under an operational environment where an external light is present. CONSTITUTION: In the method for detecting the level of articles 12 stocked in a storage tank 10, a reflection surface 11 is set at a desired level on the inner wall of the storage tank 10 and irradiated with a laser light 3A. The image of the reflection surface 11 is then picked up through a band-pass filter 4 passing only the light having wavelength identical to that of the laser light 3A. The stocking level of the articles 12 is detected based on the image at an irradiated part present in the image thus picked up.
