<p>PURPOSE: To measure a roll gap with high accuracy before starting rolling after the replacement of the block mill roll by providing a light projector and a light acceptor which radiate a laser beam in parallel with a pass line and receive the same. CONSTITUTION: Support members 2a, 2b are arranged in the roll edge portions of work rolls 5a, 5b in a state that the same are once parted against the energizing force of a spring 7. When the parted state of the support members 2a, 2b is released, the support members 2a, 2b approach by the energizing force of the spring 7 so that the respective contact plates 2aa, 2ab, 2ba, and 2bb sandwich the inlet and outlet of the pass line P of the rolls 5a, 5b. Thereby, the position setting of a roll gap measuring device 1 is completed. After the position setting, when a laser beam is radiated from a light projector 3a toward a light acceptor 3b in parallel with the pass line P, the light accepting amount of the light acceptor 3b is converted into the gap of a roll edge and is displayed on a display.</p> |
