PURPOSE: To achieve uniformity of surface potential of a photoconductor by a simple control and satisfactory maintenance of image quality without the addition of a complex device. CONSTITUTION: In the case an image formation process is stopped for a fixed length of time or longer, the drive of a discharging lamp 7 is stopped at the start in the next image-formation process, until the part of the surface of the photoconductive drum 1 which faces an electrifying charger 2 reaches the discharging lamp 7. In this image-formation process, by inhibiting a discharging process for the area where a charging process has not been performed yet, a potential difference between the area and other area is made small and the surface potential is made uniform. |
