PURPOSE: To dispense with the removal and attachment of a spacer for reducing the adjusting operation of backlash by providing a screw part on the peripheral surface of a bearing means and forming a threaded hole engaging the crew part of the bearing means in a support member. CONSTITUTION: Fixing nuts 18c, 20c for bearing fixing members (fixing member) 18a, 29a are loosened to be rotated relative to a support member 10. Next, the fixing members 18a, 20a are rotated to be moved along the axes a1, a2. Thus, bevel gears 12, 14 together with the fixing members 18a, 20a are moved. A measuring instrument is disposed on the pitch circle of the bevel gear 14 and the bevel gears 12, 14 are shifted along the axes a1, a2 to obtain an amount of backlash. When an optimum backlash is obtained, the fixing nuts 18c, 20c of the fixing members 18a, 20a are fastened to secure the fixing members 18a, 20a fixedly to the support member 10. Thus, the bearing member is rotated in the threaded hole of the support member to continuously adjust the backlash of the bevel gear. |
