PURPOSE: To provide a picture processor which can reproduce optimum picture quality of dots, a picture, a character on a white ground, a character on dots and a character on a color ground respectively, and which can be inexpensively and easily constituted. CONSTITUTION: Picture signals obtained from the picture input device 1 of a scanner and the like are respectively inputted to a dot degree calculation means 2, a smoothing means 3, a filter means 4, a Laplacian arithmetic means 5 and an edge degree calculation means 6. The output of the smoothing means 3 and the output of the filter means 4 are mixed by changing the mixing rate in accordance with the output of the dot degree calculation means 2. The output of the Laplacian arithmetic means 5 is converted into an appropriate value in accordance with the output of the edge degree calculation means 6. Thus, an output picture signal is obtained by adding the outputs of a mixer 7 and a converter 8. |
