Single processor with variable processor clock and power supply for multiprocessor system

A single processor operates on data received from a data input line, and outputs data to an output line, and contains a control device to control the processor operating mode. The processor operating mode control device contains a phase-locked-loop circuit to generate a clock signal synchronous to a reference input clock which is used to drive the processor. A DC-DC converter is used to derive the processor power supply. A multi-processor system is formed from a number of these processors, where each processor operating clock speed and supply voltage is adjusted according to its current processing load.
