<p>A shaft assembly (2), and a implement such as a golf club (1) embodying it, comprises two or more elongate shaft elements (3) and a tensioning mechanism (8) therefor. Preferably an elongate tension member (9) extends between a first, fixed point anchorage (10) associated with a first shaft element at the head (7) end of the implement or golf club (1) and a second, movable anchorage (11,12) associated with a different shaft element at the handle (6) end of the implement or golf club (1).
