Pipes are lined, partic. for water and wastewater systems, by a method in which segments (2,3) of thermoplastic plastics, partic. high density polyethylene, are installed and are joined by coupling members or a key and slot system (1) in which heating coils (4) are incorporated. The coils are used to weld the segments together. Extrusion seams (5) may be provided for additional security.
