<p>A high-quality molded surface fastner is manufactured by extruding molten thermoplastic resin (4), in a predetermined width, from an extrusion nozzle (1) to a circumferential surface of a die wheel (2) having a multiplicity of engaging-element-forming cavities (5), driving the die wheel (2) for rotation, and molding a multiplicity of engaging elements (4b) integrally with a plate-like substrate sheet (4a). At the same time, pseudo elements (4c) are molded integrally with the substrate sheet (4a) along opposite side edges, using pseudo-element-forming cavities (15) in opposite side circumferential surfaces of the die wheel (2) simultaneously. With the pseudo elements (4c), the molded surface fastener (10) is peeled off the die wheel (2) under a uniform peeling force through the entire width of the substrate sheet (4a).
