PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to stably reproduce a diffusion state of light inside a light guide body as designed despite a simple configuration, so as to reduce a deterioration in image quality.SOLUTION: An illumination device comprises a rod-like light guide body having a light transmission property and a light source arranged at an end in the longitudinal direction of the light guide body. The light guide body includes a diffusion-side part that diffuses light made incident on the inside of the light guide body from the light source through the end, and an emission-side part that emits the light to the outside of the light guide body. The diffusion-side part includes a plurality of reflection grooves 57 formed by being arranged in the longitudinal direction on a lateral face of the light guide body, and an inner wall of each of the reflection grooves 57 is bent in the depth direction of the reflection groove 57 at a first corner part 57d and bent in the depth direction at a second corner part 57e.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
